Overview
The UCSF Colitis and Crohn’s Disease Center is dedicated to providing comprehensive care for individuals with Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, and related illnesses. As part of this commitment, we are proud to present our twentieth inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) symposium. This course will address advances in the medical and surgical management of Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis including novel therapies and optimizing current medications. Management of special populations including the pregnant patient and those with complications of therapy will be discussed. This year’s course also includes a workshop on Intestinal Ultrasound for IBD.
Who Should Attend This Course?
This symposium is designed for gastroenterologists, colorectal surgeons, internists, and other health professionals who participate in the management of this complicated patient population.
Objectives
Upon completion of this course, attendees will refine their approaches to:
- Correct choice of therapy and adequate monitoring of therapy efficacy among patients with IBD
- Appropriately utilize novel diagnostics including intestinal ultrasound
- The unique challenges for special populations in IBD - pregnant patients, older patients, and LGBTQ patients
- Endpoints of therapy for IBD
- Discussing and incorporating novel therapies and biosimilars with their patients
- Appropriately prescribing dietary therapy for IBD
